SR

Siti Rahimah Abdullah

Petaling Jaya · Social Engagement

"My mother had stopped going out after my father passed. She was managing at home but she had got very quiet. The Social Engagement programme was honestly more than I expected — Hairul went to the morning market with her twice a week and she started talking about her outings when I called. The monthly summary was also useful, not just for reassurance but because it helped me understand her week better."

Lim Chee Hong

Singapore (family in KL) · Check-in Programme

"We are based in Singapore and my parents are in Cheras. I had been calling them daily but I knew I was missing things between calls. The check-in programme with Mawar changed that. Kar Wei visits three times a week, sends me a short note each time, and calls me once a month to talk through anything worth knowing. I sleep better knowing there is someone who actually sees them regularly."

Bangsar · Daily Living Support

"My grandmother is independent and sharp but the house had been getting a bit chaotic since she stopped being able to manage the laundry easily. The Daily Living Support programme sorted it out. Mawar organised the household schedule, worked out which helpers she was comfortable with, and now it just runs. I was skeptical about the price at first but honestly the alternative was me flying back every month."

Tan Kok Wai

Subang Jaya · Social Engagement

"My father is 78 and used to play badminton three times a week. That ended, and he was restless at home. The activity calendar that Mawar put together for him — including a tai chi group at the community centre and a craft circle — gave him something to look forward to again. The companion who goes with him is patient with his pace and that was the thing that mattered most."

Wangsa Maju · Check-in Programme

"I started with the daily check-in option and switched to several-times-weekly after a month — that suited my mother better. What I appreciated was that Mawar adjusted the schedule without any fuss. The updates are brief and clear, not long essays. Kar Wei writes in a way that feels like a real person wrote it, which sounds obvious but apparently is not."

Wong Mei Ling

Melbourne (family in Ampang) · Daily Living

"My aunt lives alone in Ampang and I manage her arrangements from Australia. The Daily Living programme removed an enormous amount of stress from my side of the world. Mawar coordinates the household helpers, tells me if anything changes, and handles the week-to-week logistics that I cannot. The monthly call with Norzahra is genuinely useful — she knows the situation well."

Three Situations, Three Approaches

A family in the same city, but different worlds

Social Engagement Programme · 8 months

The Situation

An 81-year-old woman in Setapak whose children all lived within 20 minutes but who rarely saw them on weekdays. She had stopped attending her local surau's weekly gathering after a health episode the previous year, and her social circle had narrowed significantly.

What We Arranged

A companion visited three mornings a week. Over the first month, they identified two community activities she was interested in — a morning reading group at the library and a Raya preparation workshop at a nearby community centre. By month three she was attending both independently.

After 8 Months

She rejoined the surau gathering. Her daughter described her as "more herself" than she had been in two years. The programme scope was reduced to twice a week at the family's request, as less coordination was now needed.

Regular Check-in Programme · Ongoing

The Situation

A retired couple in Kepong whose son and daughter both lived in the UK. The children called regularly but felt they were not getting the full picture. The parents, not wanting to worry them, tended to describe everything as "fine".

What We Arranged

Four check-ins per week — alternating phone and in-person. Written notes were shared with both adult children simultaneously. The monthly review call included a brief structured conversation with the couple themselves, with their agreement.

How It Changed Things

The son described the programme as replacing "the anxiety of not knowing" with "the reassurance of regular, honest information." The couple found the visits themselves enjoyable — they looked forward to them as a social event rather than a check-up.
